This blend of healing herbs contains comfrey, plantain, and chamomile. These herbs are known for their amazing skin healing qualities. Comfrey has even been used to assist in knitting broken bones back together! Plantain is like no other herb when it comes to relieving skin rashes, bug bites and stings. Chamomile is an amazing skin soothing herb. These three teamed up together will create a fabulous healing oil, salve, or balm. You will want to use it for diaper rashes and all sorts of other skin disorders.
This blend will make a quart of rich, green infused oil. You will need to cover the herbs in a glass mason jar with olive oil. (Safflower, sweet almond, sunflower, or another skin conditioning oil will work just as well.) Let the jar sit in the hot sun for a day or two and then strain out the herbs. Keep the jar of oil in a dark pantry. It should keep for a few months. You can add a few drops of vitamin E oil or grapefruit seed extract to help preserve the oil.
You may also want to use beeswax to make a balm or a salve out of this oil. To make a solid product out of this oil, you simply melt an ounce of beeswax and add a few cups of the warm oil to the warm wax. Stir this well and pour into a tin or a plastic container with a lid. You will need to experiment a bit with how much beeswax you should use. More wax makes a firmer balm. Less wax makes a softer salve.
**I am adding chickweed to this blend. Chickweed is another excellent skin healing herb. The addition of chickweed makes this a fantastic synergistic blend!
