Yummy Cleansing Soups for Good Health

October 25, 2007

Dear Friends,

Have you been feeling a bit under the weather lately? Not
really ill, but just tired and lacking your usual luster?
Maybe you have even had a few headaches or digestive
problems, but nothing major enough to require a visit to
the doc's office...at least not just yet.

I talk to women all the time who just don't feel up to par,
but they can't put a finger on what it is. I am going to
share with you my simple "program" for feeling better and
escaping the "blahs". It is a gentle cleansing diet that
you stay on for 7 to 10 days. It is suitable for the
entire family. The diet consists of eating healthy, simple
soups for lunch and dinner each day.
During the diet you will abstain from eating meat and yeast
breads. You can eat a free-range egg or two for breakfast.
I also suggest a kefir smoothie made with fresh fruit for
breakfast. You may also eat raw fruits and vegetables
throughout the day, as much as you like. Fix a large green
salad to go with your soups! Make your soups in large
quantities and you will have a nice selection to choose
from. You may add a bit of organic brown rice or millet to
these soups, also. If you have not tried flax crackers,
you don't know what your missing! They make a super
alternative to croutons and white flour crackers. They
would certainly spice up your soups and salads. Check out
www.foodsalive.com and www.barakelfoods.com (both on our
links page) for information on flax crackers.

Green Healing Soup is the primary soup that I use for this
cleanse. It is fantastic!
5 cups of vegetable stock
1 large onion
1 celery stalk
1 small head of cabbage
1 pound of washed, fresh spinach
2 cups romaine lettuce
1 large tomato
1/4 cup fresh parsley
1 T olive oil
1 T dill
1 T thyme
1 T basil
1 T oregano
sea salt & pepper to taste

Sautee your chopped veggies in the olive oil before adding
them to your vegetable stock. Simmer this soup until the
veggies are tender. Add the herbs during the last 15
minutes. Serve this soup pureed. You may add 1 1/2 cups
of buttermilk to this soup, which is delicious, but I don't
suggest it when you are cleansing.

Potato & Thyme Soup is another wonderful cleansing soup.
The thyme and garlic will also boost your immune system!
7 cups vegetable broth
1 medium onion
2 cups diced organic potatoes
4 crushed garlic cloves, peeled
1 T butter (sautee onions and garlic)
1 to 2 T thyme
2 tsp. kelp powder (optional)
sea salt & pepper to taste

Serve this pureed or chunky.

These two soups should get you started. I will send out
some additional soup recipes in the coming days. It is
wise to drink lots of water and herbal tea during the
cleanse. Herbal teas that contain nettle, dandelion, red
clover, lemon peel, and alfalfa are good. I also suggest
organic green tea. You can always add a bit of green tea
to your herbal blends. Of course, kombucha tea is highly
recommended! In fact, this is the perfect time to
introduce kombucha to your diet. Kombucha is a total body
tonic and a fabulous cleanser!

Blessings,
