Thanksgiving Recipes

November 16, 2007

Dear Friends,

Since many of you will be preparing for your Thanksgiving
meal this weekend, I thought I would share a few of my
favorite recipes with you.

Farmstead Stuffing
1 pound turkey sausage
1/2 cup real butter
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup onion
1 tsp dried sage
1 tsp dried thyme
14 ounces dried bread crumbs
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp ground cloves
2 cups turkey or chicken stock
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup chopped black walnuts
sea salt and black pepper to taste

Saute the sausage, celery and onion in the butter until
onion is translucent and the sausage is browned. Add the
sage and thyme. In a large mixing bowl, combine the
sausage mixture, bread crumbs, herbs, broth, cranberries,
and walnuts. Add sea salt and pepper and mix well.
You can stuff this inside of your bird or bake in a glass
casserole dish at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes.

I love this stuffing! No other stuffing comes close! This
even makes a nice main dish to fix during the winter
months.
I based it off of a recipe in Storey's 500 Treasured
Country Recipes...my favorite cookbook!

Cranberry Sauce
12 ounces of cranberries
1 can mandarin oranges
1 cup honey
1 tsp cinnamon

In a saucepan, cook cranberries in 1 cup of water until
they are tender. Add the oranges (drained),honey, and
cinnamon. Cook for about 5 minutes more while stirring.
Refrigerate or serve this warm. It sure beats the
cranberry jelly from a can!

Thanksgiving is a unique holiday set aside for the people
of this country to give thanks to Yahweh for all of His
blessings. My family celebrates the harvest during late
September and early October, but we set aside Thanksgiving
Day as a day to simply show Him gratitude for the blessing
of living in this land. He has a purpose for this country.
We read "The Stories of the Pilgrims", by Margaret B.
Pumphrey every year at this time. Don't let Thanksgiving
become just a "Turkey Day" or an extra shopping day. Give
Him thanks! You could have been born in Russia or Cuba,
but He put you here.

I am offering 10% off for all orders that total over $20.00
until November 21st. Enter coupon code:Thanksgiving.
**This does not include "The Kitchen Apothecary".

Shalom,
