Could it be...the end of summer?

August 15, 2008

Dear Friends,

I can't believe that we are staring the last couple weeks
of August right in the face! How did it all come to an end
so soon? I am very much hoping and praying for a
delightfully warm and pleasant fall! Do you recall that
last year, at least in our neck of the woods, it was warm
and wonderful even into November? Wouldn't it be fabulous
to have a repeat? I hope so!

Now is the time that tomatoes begin ripening and
overwhelming you with their abundant harvest. It is very
wise to process them into sauce for winter meals. Rather
than save up a bunch to do once a week, I find it easier to
do a small amount each day. You can freeze it or can it,
whichever you prefer. Why not make up large pots of summer
stews with your fresh veggies and can them or freeze them
for the coming cold months as well?
I need to remind you to begin preparing your winter herbal
remedies too. A good tincture needs several weeks to
infuse. You'll be needing a batch of "Flu Fighter" before
you know it!

I enjoy the sounds of late summer...the crickets, cicadas,
and grasshoppers are chirping all day and late into the
night. The birds are twittering around the sunflower
heads, singing pretty songs. It is a lovely time of year,
but it always makes me a bit sad because I just enjoy
summer so much and these sounds remind me that it is coming
to an end. Autumn is gorgeous too, and honestly, if it
would last longer I would look forward to it just as much
as summer...but, those beautiful leaves seem to fall from
the trees much too quickly. My advice to you is to get
outdoors and enjoy the seasons before you find yourself
stuck inside again staring through the windows!

We are having a special "back to school" sale for the next
few days at the Etsy shop! FREE SHIPPING to the U.S.A. on
Paypal orders over $25.00! I don't know what soap has to
do with starting school again, but hey, everybody else is
having one so I thought we should too! Take advantage of
the savings until Monday the 18th. If you would like to
see some pictures of our new soap batches, visit the blog.
The soaps you'll see are new fall varieties that will be
ready around September...pumpkin oatmeal, raspberry &
vanilla spice, whole grain, milk & honey, and many more!

Have a great weekend!
Blessings,
Jennifer
